The CFS is engaged in policy formulation that will improve services to families; thus the CFS seeks to increase understanding of South African families and the issues that affect them. To achieve this objective, the CFS links civil society organisations, government departments, the corporate sector, as well as national and international research institutes; supporting research relevant to policy and practice related to family resilience, capability and well-being.

The CFS has formed a strategic alliance with the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies of Children, Families and Society of the University of the Western Cape (UWC). This alliance will extend our capacity to share empirical research, as well as to use the platform to facilitate information exchange between professionals working with families and communities.
